Resume and project list

Tips for your optimal presentation

Your resume is your business card and gives potential employers a first impression of your background, skills and experience. Below you will find a checklist that you can use to optimize your resume to increase your chances of getting an interview.

Permanent Placement

Are you interested in a permanent position with one of our customers? Then please note the following tips for the optimal design of your resume.

  • Present your resume in tabular form.

  • List your previous work experience in chronological descending order.

  • For each professional station, indicate the month and year in which you started and finished it, in order to better understand your professional career. Make sure that you always enter the months and years in the same format, e.g. 04/2020 to 05/2023.

  • State the name of the company or industry and your position there. Describe your activities in detail and mention your main tasks, your area of responsibility and special merits.

  • For each position, indicate what tools and technologies you used (e.g., programming languages, frameworks, SAP modules, application software, etc.).

  • List the standards, methodologies, certifications, etc. that you work by (e.g. ITIL, IFRS, ISO26262, etc.).

  • List your language skills. Use the following rating scale for your assessment:

    • A1: Beginner
    • A2: Basic
    • B1: Advanced language use
    • B2: Independent language use
    • C1: Proficient language use
    • C2: (Almost) native language competence
    • Native language

You can find a detailed description of the language levels in our FAQs.

  • Ideally, there should be no gaps in your professional career that can be documented with certificates. If you have a large number of references, you can make a targeted selection to further emphasize your suitability for a particular position.

  • If there are gaps in your resume, i.e., if there are interruptions in your education or employment, they should be well justified.

  • Don’t forget to sign your resume (digitally). This confirms the accuracy and timeliness of your information.

Testimonials and certificates

Which certificates or other proof of qualification belong in the application dossier?

Not all certificates accumulated in the course of life belong in the application, but only the meaningful ones. Primary school reports are of no interest to personnel decision-makers, and after several years of working life, even the high school diploma is no longer important. The following list shows which certificates belong in which order in the application documents:

  • university certificate
  • training certificate
  • internship or work certificates Internship references are only relevant if you do not have any work experience and do not yet have any work references.
  • certificates of completed training or courses Internship references are only relevant if you do not have any work experience and do not yet have any work references.

Quality takes precedence over quantity: As a rule, the last three references should be included. It is also advisable to select other qualification certificates according to relevance. All important references should be attached, even if there is a bad one among them, in order to avoid possible negative impressions or justification for a missing reference in the interview.
